Triphala | Ayurvedic Cleansing Superstar

As we all gear up to reset our bodies from the copious amounts of stagnating foods that were had during the holidays, I begin my fast today.  This will be a warming and mostly liquid detoxifying fast abstaining from dairy, sugar (in any form), alcohol, and anything that overworks my digestive system.  It will consist of:

-A warm lemon water start

-Warming tonics

-Soups filled with turmeric, ginger, cayenne and other detoxifying spices

-Fermented vegetables

-Bone Broths

-And warming Dhal recipes to serve as my solid lunch

No specific order aside from starting with lemon water.  And eating when I'm hungry.

To deepen the detoxification, I will be supplementing with the ancient Ayurvedic staple, Triphala, to regulate, strengthen, tone and cleanse my digestive system without stripping or depleting my body of vital nutrients.

As  one of the oldest and gentlest blends in Ayurveda, Triphala consists of the three fruits:  amalaki, vibhitaki, and haritaki which make it high in linoleic oil, and vitamin C.  It’s a non habit-forming and safe colon cleansing herbal formula for all ages that supports a healthy digestive and gastro intestinal function while strengthening nutritional assimilation.  It also improves circulation, liver function and has anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties making it an ideal sidekick to cleansing.

I’ll take this twice daily during the duration of my fast.  Morning and evening.
