We all know that I live for vintage and its contribution to less footprint, unfair factory practices, and affinity towards quality 100% fibers like they used to make in the "good ol' days". Melissa Rousseau of M.PARKE STUDIO is generous enough to introduce us to her very own online vintage shop - specifically her fall picks.
M | The shop within M.PARKE STUDIO is my passionately curated space in celebration of holistic and sustainable living filled with vintage clothing and accessories, organic beauty products, and wellness tools.
But let’s discuss how amazing vintage can be. I have adored vintage clothing, accessories, and home goods for as long as I can remember. Perhaps the passion was ignited when my grandmother started to pass down her magical collections to me. But a vintage piece goes so much farther beyond just its beauty. Each piece is a vessel for energy. And every piece has its own lifetime of stories. The exchange of vintage is a variation on the pay-it-forward mentality. To love a garment or accessory, to take excellent care of it, to have it absorb your journey, and then to pass that on to the next wearer for the story to continue - well that is quite a powerful and beautiful transfer of energy. It is sustainable and eco-conscious living in one of its most thoughtful forms. I really only spend my money on vintage items now, unless of course, I’m in need of high quality basics. But I do love the hunt, finding that treasured piece, and then the unique, one-of-a kind quality that vintage honors.
As we transition from the heat of Summer into the cool refreshment that Fall inevitably brings, the key goal becomes layering. Here are my top vintage picks from the M.PARKE STUDIO SHOP for rounding out your Fall wardrobe.
STRAW HAT :: this is really a year round must have. The neutral straw color and classic shape combine for a super wearable, go with anything, day or night style.
VINTAGE COACH BAG :: I adore the thick leather, sturdy hardware, + classic shapes that vintage Coach bags are known for. And this burnt red color is the perfect anchor for your lighter, more feminine lace pieces that you’re still wearing from Summer but may start to eventually layer with tights. It is also a perfect compliment to your 70”s vibe high-wasted flare jeans that are gracing us with their presence again.
70’s CROCHET MARKET TOTE :: this gorgeous crochet tote is perfect for a Fall weekend packed with market strolling.
EMBROIDERED GUATEMALAN HUIPIL :: a perfect coverup for when the cool air prompts you to cover your shoulders, but is not yet nippy enough for a full jacket. Plus this color and embroidery are simply amazing.
70’s EMBROIDERED TOP :: a must have in anyone’s wardrobe. So feminine and touches beautifully on that 70’s thing we are all coveting now. I’d pair this with a high-wasted denim skirt, ankle boots, + the Burnt Red Coach Bag above. Or perhaps some white flared jeans to harness the airiness, light, + high vibration of an all-white ensemble.
VINTAGE INDIAN DRESS :: light weight cotton indian dresses are my favorite transition pieces, perfect for layering and easing you out of Summer and into cooler temps. Pair with tights when the temp drops even more.
70’s VEST :: this stunning vest with gold thread rope detail and a floral pattern winding around the waist, is also a lovely layerable piece that works well over your white sundresses or your high-waisted flares or cords.
